Rough idea how many photos it will hold. Ten? a hundred? a thousand?

The actual storage would depend highly on the size of the images you want to load on the 16GB internal memory.

Can I set up the frame at home and then ship it to someone as a gift?

Yes, you can. If you are the first person to setup the frame then you can easily send photos to the person you are sending the frame to. If you wish for others to setup the phone app or email see the instructions, or contact support@aluratek.com if you need assistance with getting others connected to the frame.

QuestionPhoto's can be added from a remote location but can they be removed from a remote location as well?

Not with this frame. You can delete photos directly from the frame, but the phone app for that frame does not delete photos on the frame. Only the owner of the frame can delete photos directly on the device.

What length video does this take?

One minute per video clip

Once photos are uploaded do you need Wi-Fi for it to play the photos?

No. Photos that come from the phone via WIFI are stored on the frame's internal HD. WIFI can be disconnected. That frame can also play photos directly from an SD card or USB thumb drive,. 32GB or less with the memory cards.
