Which Bluetooth version does this Aluratek cassette receiver use?

This device uses Bluetooth v4.0 technology but is backwards compatible with Bluetooth v3.0 and v2.1 devices.

I can't quite deduce what this device is for and what it does? Can someone explain?

If you have an older stereo with a cassette player you can make it Bluetooth capable using this device. You would then be able to stream music from your smartphone to your older non-Bluetooth stereo.

Can use hands free to call or answer with right phones?

Music only. There is no microphone and doesn’t work for a call.

I have an old Compact Cassette Recorder made by GE (Model 3-5300). would this Aluratek work to record and then play back things or even just play things on this recorder?

No. This device will just enable you to use Bluetooth through the cassette player. You cannot record on this device.
