Pictures being displayed sideways or upside down

This issue usually occurs when photos are taken with the camera sideways. It's especially common when using a smartphone. Depending on the position of the camera, the orientation of the photo will vary. If you have a computer running windows 8 or later, the computer will adjust the orientation of the photo to be displayed correctly.  However, Windows does not correct the actual photo.

To determine the actual orientation of the photo, you will need to download a photo viewing/editing software.

For Windows:

An alternative option for Windows computers is to right click the photo and open it with Windows Photo Viewer. Then rotate the picture to the desired orientation and save the file. Then, load the resaved photo to the frame and it should be displayed in the orientation it was saved in.

For Macs:

  • You can use iPhoto/Photo Library. Load all the images and export with the following settings
    • Kind: JPEG
    • Quality: Medium
    • Size: Large

When viewing photos with these software, you can see what photos are in the correct orientation and which are not. You can then rotate the photos to the correct orientation.

After loading the corrected photos to the frame, they will be displayed in the correct orientation on the frame.
