Pictures being displayed sideways or upside down

This issue usually occurs when photos are taken with the camera sideways. It's especially common when using a smart phone. Depending on the position of the camera, the orientation of the photo will vary. If you have a computer running windows 8 or later, the preview will adjust the orientation of the photo to be displayed correctly on the computer. However, it is only in the preview. Windows does not correct the actual photo.

To determine the actual orientation of the photo, you will need to download a photo viewing/editing software.

For Windows:

For Macs:

  • You can use iPhoto/Photo Library. Load all the images and export with the following settings
    • Kind: JPEG
    • Quality: Medium
    • Size: Large

When viewing photos with these software, you can see what photos are in the correct orientation and which are not. You can then rotate the photos to the correct orientation.

After loading the corrected photos to the frame, they will be displayed in the correct orientation on the frame.
