When I first saw the Aluratek Cinepad 9.7" Multi-Touch Capacitive Tablet with Android 4.0 (AT197F) I went looking for reviews. Alas, there weren't m/any reviews to be found and so my purchase was a bit of a shot-in-the-dark. I've owned a couple of Le Pan tablets: the first generation TC970 and the new Le Pan S TC978. Overall I'd say the responsive touch screens of all three tablets are good. I recall reading some time ago that the Le Pan touch screen was the same as ones used in the Apple iPad which, if true, makes these three tablets all a very good value.
The AT197F offers a mini-USB, mini-HDMI, and WiFi connections while the TC978 also provides a WiFi connection along with a proprietary USB connection similar to but not the same as an Apple connector and no HDMI connection. The TC978 USB connection is used to charge the battery via a PC USB port or an electrical outlet with the included adapter while the AT197F uses a dedicated power-only adapter.
The AT197F has a faster processor at 1.5GHz vs. 1GHz on the TC978. Both have 4GB of built-in memory with a MicroSD card slot which I used to expand memory capacity to 32GB. The TC978 has the advantage of a cover to keep dirt out of the MicroSD card slot. I suppose a bit of clear/sticky tape would work fairly well if dirt/dust is a concern.
There are some differences between the AT197F and the TC978; for example, the former has two cameras while the latter has just a rear camera. The AT197F uses GetJar and the Google Play Store (with an occasional incompatibility) for apps while the TC978 has been Google-certified. Apparently Aluratek is seeking similar Google certification. The TC978 has a built-in GPS which, while convenient, isn't going to take the place of my auto-Garmin GPS.
A local in-store demo of a GoldX Bluetooth keyboard and folio was successful with the TC978 while Aluratek customer service says a keyboard/folio is planned for the AT197F in early 2013. Currently Aluratek offers an iPad product which is considered a "related" product to the AT197F on their web site but which, according to one customer service representative, is not compatible with the AT197F. A support request to Aluratek has gone unanswered notwithstanding an early (24 business hours) promise to reply. Oddly enough the AT197F has been out-of-stock each time I visited the Aluratek web site and this model is not listed in their customer support area although the AT110F is listed.
Overall I'd say that anyone wanting a reasonably-priced well-performing tablet will be pleased with either the AT197F or the TC978. Each tablet has a somewhat similar manufacturer's suggested price ($240 vs. $230) and so the best retail price may be the deciding factor (in recent weeks I've seen $150 in Canada vs. $139 in the USA respectively).
